Stupid, or not stupid, that's the question
Thursday, September 30, 2004
Somehow, I feel that Thailand customers are becoming more and more like Singapore customers : more stupid. I have a case today, which to my knowledge, should rank as Joke of The Year. One IT support from one respected company in Thailand called, on pretext of asking about what drivers + applications that need to be install on a newly-reinstall system. I was guiding him up to one point, until I wondered whether the guy that I'm talking to is an IT support for that company.
Cust : What's this Intervideo DVD software thingy?
Me : Err.. it's supposed to install the necessary codecs + application for DVD movie playback. BTW, do you have a DVD-ROM drive?
Cust : Yes.
Me : Then you can install the software from the CD provided if you want to be able to play DVD movies on this system correctly.
That's not all. This is the killer question :
Cust : So, do I need to install this DVD software ?
*teowwwwww*
As soon as he asked me the last question, I seriously want to grab his head, wiggle it in front of 10 hungry crocodiles, pulling him up as soon as the crocodiles about to grab it.

I am spreading Firefox!!
ok... since Jase infected me with Firefox browser, I've been using it since. And now, I want to infect more ppl, so here goes :
Let's spread Firefox!!
If you started using Firefox, and use it long enough, you will, like Jase and me, dump Internet Explorer (mmm...not totally, as some pages will just work ONLY with IE... *sigh*). Say hello to a whole new world of web browsing!! :D

Hmm... since recently I just upgraded to the Brinkster's Professional plan, and got my own domain now, I guess I would need to find something to do to fill up the space provided. And the first thing that comes to my mind is blog. That I already kau tim and now moving to the next big thing : web album.
I seriously cracked my head, scrapped the rust off my ASP coding ability, and actually starts doing ASP coding for the web album project. I started off simple : query the folder name, get the file names inside, and displays it as image. Simple, and done. Then I decided to go a bit deeper : query the folder, get the file names, input the files into a database table, query the database table and display it as images. SImple as well. Now the hardest part : query the folder, get the file names inside, check the filename whether exist in database table, which, if yes, no need to add the record, then add everything in, query the database table again and display it as image. This part, i'm still stuck. And still no go.
Almost giving up, went over to Jase for help. He saw the code, make some amendments, tried - work the first part. As it was late already just now, decided to continue it tomorrow. Boleh ke tak, depends on how blur am I tomorrow... :D

Working Saturday
Saturday, September 25, 2004
what else can i say? :D
Today is Saturday, and mostly Sales (Thailand, at least) don't normally work on Saturdays (in fact, some already in no-work mood on Friday itself), and yet, customer keep calling into Tech Support toll-free line asking to speak to Sales. F**k.
Can't Sales just tell the customers not to call on Saturdays?

Evil demons of stupidity... GO AWAY!!
I used to read Dilbert comics a lot last time, and always like the sarcastic way the creator critises the management.
By the way, this is one special "kongthau" to ward off the evil demons of stupidity - just print it, fix it to anywhere - your cubicle, cupboard, monitor - that you want to get rid of the demons.
I wished I could paste it on the forehead of all of our stupid customers. I wished..... *evil grin*

Billboard mistake..

The billboard reads "Prestasi wireless yang berterusan". Ain't it supposed to be "Prestasi tanpa-wayar (Malay for Wireless) yang berterusan" ? hmmm

Sick...again
Thursday, September 16, 2004
*sniffles*
I think I'm going to be sick. Been in the state of daze for the whole day today, with my nose water running like waterfall (ok... i'm exaggerating a bit here..). Sneezing non-stop, even while talking to customer also have to cover my mouthpiece and talk.
Adoi... I hate it when I start sneezing... :(
Sometimes, I just don't understand how ppl work. I do Thailand phone support, taking care mainly client customers, namely desktop and notebook customers, and tonight, I'm on the queue until 11pm. Just now, there's some bugger from Server side, trying to conference call with me on the premise that the customer speaks Thai and he can't understand, and ask me to help him troubleshoot. I was like, ok, how the heck I'm going to troubleshoot correctly when I don't even know how to troubleshoot a server? He had the nerve to say that if there's no more Thai-speaking server ppl around, their team leader said can conference call with the client side. That server guy was saying, LCLY-ly, that if I don't know and can't help, just say a word and don't waste his time. I was like, what the f**k, you are wasting MY time, and making an unnecesary call to MY queue. Asking for help somemore LCLY. F**k. Ruined my night only.

Story for you to ponder
A police officer had a beautiful daughter, who fell in love with a boy who was an ordinary poor person. When the girl's father came to know about their love, he did not like it at all, and so began to protest about it. Now it happened that the two lovers left their homes for a happy future. The girl's father started searching for the two lovers but they could not find them.
At last, he accepted their love and asked them in a newspaper to come back. Her father said that, "If you both come back, I will marry you with the guy that you love. I accept that you loved each other truly". So in this way their love won and the age old attitude of the tribe took a beating. The couple went to the city for shopping for the wedding.
He was wearing a white traditional dress, and was crossing the road when a car came and hit him and he died on the spot. The girl lost her senses. After a long time she recovered and accepted that her love has died.
One night she was sleeping in her home with her family. Her mother had dream in which she saw a fairy. That fairy asked her mother to wash the blood spots of the guy from her daughter's clothes as soon as possible. But her mother ignored the dream.
Next night the father saw the same dream, he also ignored it. Then when the girl had the same dream the next night, she woke up and told her mother about the dream. Her mother asked her to wash the clothes on which there were blood spots. She washed the spots but some remained.
Next night she again had the same dream she again washed the spots but some still remained. Next night she again had the same dream and this time that fairy gave her last warning to wash the blood spots, else something terrible will happen. This time the girl tried her best to wash the spots, the clothes tore, but some spots still remained.
In the evening on same day when she was alone, someone knocked the door, when she opened the door she saw the fairy at the door. She got very scared and fainted. The fairy woke her up..., and gave her an object. That awe-struck girl asked "what is this..? to which the fairy replied :

Malaysian Idol
Sunday, September 12, 2004
This probably is my first ranting post-cum-complaint about Malaysian Idol, after one of my favourite contestants, Nikki, is voted out this week :( Even the judges are surprised by Malaysia's choice.
I seriously thought (and hoped) that another contestant, Andrew, was going to be voted out. As one of the judges said, this competition is doing him more harm than good, which I think is very true.
This blogspace is dedicated to her, and this is the last song that she sings in Malaysian Idol.....
Goodbye Nikki... I wish you best of luck in anything you do....

Emotion - Bee Gees
It's over and done
but the heartache lives on inside
And who's the one you're clinging to
instead of me tonight?
And where are you now, now that I need you?
Tears on my pillow wherever you go
I'll cry me a river that leads to your ocean
You never see me fall apart
In the words of a broken heart
it's just emotion thats taking me over
Caught up in sorrow
lost in my song
but if you don't come back
Come home to me, darling
don't you know there's nobody left in this world to hold me tight
nobody left in this world to kiss goodnight
Goodnight, goodnight
I'm there at your side,
I'm part of all the things you are
But you've got a part of someone else
You've got to find your shining star
And where are you now, now that I need you?
Tears on my pillow wherever you go
I'll cry me a river that leads to your ocean
You never see me fall apart
In the words of a broken heart
it's just emotion thats taking me over

What would you do?
Thursday, September 02, 2004
You have this friend since elementary and after college the both of you lost contact with each other. But she is someone really special to you, and you are someone very special to her too. Five years later you receive a phone call from her.
"Hi, I'll visit you" she says.
"Hi, Leah, when?" you ask her.
"Just wait for me" she replies.
It seems weird but you prepare for her coming anyway. One rainy night you hear a knock on the door. And you're surprised to see that it's your friend Leah. Losing touch for five years is so long and you start talking about everything. The both of you even go to your room upstairs. Suddenly there is a power outage, but the two of you continue talking by candle-light. Then the phone rings.
"I'll just get the phone downstairs," you say.
"No, don't get it, we're in the middle of our talk," she says.
"It might be important," you say.
"Okay if you say so, but promise me you'll be back," she says.
You promise her a million times that you'll be back. Then you run downstairs to answer the phone.
"Hello," you say.
"Hello," says the person on the line.
"Yeah?" you say, wondering who it is.
I'm calling on behalf of Leah's family. They had an accident and her parents are in the hospital right now," he says.
"How are they?" you ask.
He continues, "They are injured but stable. But I'm sorry to say that Leah died. We found your name and phone number in Leah's purse..." His voice trails off as you look up at the long stairs.
WOULD YOU GO BACK AS YOU HAVE PROMISED?
