Saving for the old age

Sunday, April 29, 2007

Some people i know have start keeping money for their retirement days. Some just couldn't care and live the day to the max. As for myself, retirement is something that I look forward to, and I certainly do not want to be suffering then.

What I could is to just get a life insurance tied to some kind of investment, where the policy will mature at some point and pays me a lump sum of money. That would be endowments policy. That way, i have the benefits of insurance coverage, while saving money at the same time.

The other way would be just to keep whatever money that I have in the bank, and buy separate insurance without investment linked to it. With that, I'll keep my insurance premium low, and maximise my savings. I could also go into fixed deposits.

Anything I do, i do to make sure i don't suffer during my old age. I just want to live happily without having to worry about money :)

Shopping for insurance?

Wednesday, April 25, 2007

Shopping for insurance? Maybe it's best if you do some readings first before you actually approach any insurance agent. It's probably wise to look around to determine the health insurance plans available, and how to choose the correct one for yourself.

Sometimes we maybe blinded with cheap and affordable health insurance package offered by one company, but reading the fine prints, it may not be cheap and affordable after all. Maybe you'll have to fork out some money first and claim it back from the insurance company later on.

What is covered under the insurance plan is also important. Not knowing what kind of health insurance coverage you have would be very un-beneficial to you, especially if you are caught in some kind of situation. For instance, mole removal may be cosmetic surgery, and most insurance company i know doesn't cover cosmetic surgery.

It's best to read up, and ask your insurance agent more if there's something you don't understand. Always ask around if you don't understand - compare if possible :) You won't regret it.

Confused with the changes?

Tuesday, April 24, 2007

Apparently, someone just came over to this blog, read about my recent posts about changing stuffs, and decided to think that I was changing job. Well, although that's right, it's not entirely true. In fact, there's something else that's about to change as well :)

What's that, you may ask? Some of the closer ones would have already knew about it. The change will affect my daily life as well, as I have grown fond with it. 5 years is a long time for a relationship. Should it be any shorter, i'll probably won't feel this way.

But life has to go on, and the change is inevitable. Let's just see how it goes, and how it turns out to be! :)

Fancy being Chewbacca?

I'm sure at some point of time, you have come acrossed Star Wars movie. And I'm also sure that at some point, you wished you were the character Chewbacca, where you are a space craft expert and at the same time, very cuddly too. Princess Leia loves cuddling Chewbacca - i'd loved that too :)

There's always something for everyone - some wished they'd be Darth Vader, where some would just be happy to be C3PO. I know some of my friends who wished they could become R2D2 so that they could spend more time with Queen Amidala. Damn - i just loved Natalie Portman, but I don't want to be a robot. I want to be a real man!

Hmm... Qui Gon Jinn would be a good choice, but he's a little bit too old for me. Definitely not Yoda - i can't speak the way he speaks. A little cute, me thinks. Or perhaps Obi Wan Kenobi - sissy young man who grew up to be a cool looking, matured old guy. That I want to be :)

Change is coming

Sunday, April 22, 2007

The change is inevitable now. The date has been set, and everything (well, almost) has been in place. Now, it's just a matter of time. Time always never on my side. It has already made me wait long enough - but the wait is worth it.

Don't worry if you don't get anything that I ramble around here. You'll know when the change takes place - i'll blog about it here (definitely!) and on my main blog too. Just be patient, and you'll get what you've been waiting for :)

Change change change change

Saturday, April 21, 2007

What would you feel if you have to change something that has been with you for a few years, especially if it has served you well everytime, and hardly broke down? Something that's almost secondary to you, and already synonymous to you.

I have the same kind of sentiment now, but now that I came to my senses, I should be glad. Why? Finally, I'm able to get rid of one junk, and get new things in my possessions. I can't seem to understand the sentimental thingy people have with old things (although i do have some) - i just feel that when the thing's old, just dump it.

The above statement is true only for non-living things. Don't go around dumping your wife/partner after 4-5 years for the reason that you're bored with it - you'll get a nice shooting from me on that :)

Mechanic school

Thursday, April 19, 2007

I have always wondered where the mechanics learn their trade. Do they learn it by being someone's apprentice, or did they enrol in some kind of auto mechanic school?

I never knew that those school exist, until my brother got a place into one of those auto mechanic school to do his mechanical (engine) engineering. Then i start figuring out - this is where the mechanics learn their trade. I don't know how effective the classes is - i still feel that the mechanics should learn up their trade by being somebody's apprentice. That way, you'll get more hands on training, and get to improve your skills much quicker.

But then again, this is purely my opinion :)

Wanna date? Just Say Hi!

I know of my friends who found their dates online. I also know a few of those who married their online dates eventually. I was really amazed by them getting to know, date and eventually got married - all started just as online acquaintances.

I have to admit i'm a little bit of a computer geek, but i still prefer doing my dating the old traditional style - get out, and meet girls. At least, you don't get some old aunties posing as young, hot chick and old uncles posing as hot hunk.

But whatever it is, online dating site are getting a lot of followers. I guessed they will be here to stay, providing avenues for people to get to know each other and eventually, get hitched :)

Paranoid

Friday, April 13, 2007

Have you been paranoid about something that you have to check it every now and then? I sometimes have the tendency to check something that i wanted every now and then, especially if i need to wait and I don't know when's the turn coming. Am i turning cuckoo??

Especially these few days, i kept checking on this one particular website day in, day out. I check the site once in the morning, and I check once again when I got back home. And no, it's not even stock broking site.

What site that i meant? Let's just say i'll review it all in 2 weeks time :) Hehehehe....

More productivity, please

Thursday, April 12, 2007

Current boss wants to see more productivity in my work. Crap. The one on top also says the same. Crap. I'm guessing that the one on top is pushing my direct boss to say that. I'm betting my top dollar that he's too afraid to say so that he has to use my direct boss.

I don't know - i just have the feeling. Although some do warn me about my current direct boss, but i just have the feeling that the one on top that's giving the direction. I just don't know how much my direct boss changed though - i've known him as peer previously.

I'm just going to play along, until I got the confirmation that I could move along. By then, i'll really just move along. Until then, let me just prepare myself for that :)

Me want me gold bullion!

What could you do with gold bullion? Do you keep them, or do you sell them for quick bucks? Do you worship them, or do you just dispose them (for profit) as soon as you got your hands on them?

For me, i'm not collecting any gold bullion. Not to say that I don't like them, it's just i couldn't afford them. Seriously speaking - if i could afford it, definitely I'll get some gold bullions for safe-keeping - gold price isn't coming down anytime soon.

If you are looking for investment material, look no further than gold bullion. As long as men drools over gold, you'll definitely be making money. And I can assure you - gold is here to stay.

The boss knows...

Wednesday, April 04, 2007

Now that the bosses knows, it's easier for me to really move along :) But they still haven't got a clue on where i'm going yet - just a vague idea that I'd like to move on, and looking for openings - inside the current company as well. I still think the company I worked for is still a good employer.

Now, I'm gonna have to wait for the good news from interview side. From what I heard, it's already good, but i won't take it as confirmed until I got the confirmation from their boss. For the time being, hoping is something i'll have to do.

Skip the fools

Monday, April 02, 2007

I skipped thru April fool completely. Is that a good thing, or bad? I don't know yet, but I sure know that the one news that I expect to hear tomorrow would be a good one, although i wasn't so sure about the current one.

Am definitely looking forward to understand more on what's expected of me, and how I can achieve whatever target they would set for me. I'm definitely going to be sorry for the current team - not that they would be in bad hands, but it's just that they'll lose a good leader (ahaks!).

But that's not what I worried much about - it's the one higher up that I'm worried about. Whether I make or break, this time, is pretty much depending on what would be said to me. Well - let's just hope for the best!
